CSONS
The Mill on the Green, Linney, LudlowWe visit Ludlow fairly often and ALWAYS squeeze in a visit to CSONS.
The food is consistently excellent and we love the smaller/larger plate options enabling you to try a smaller dish if you're not quite sure.
Dishes are always changing and pretty seasonal, which we love.
It might not look much from the outside, but looks are definitely very deceptive.

Mortimers
17 Corve St, LudlowFine dining from a very talented chef and front of house service to match. Our 7th visit and never disappoints and always recognised by front of house which is a lovely touch. Front of house always attentive and professional but friendly with it. \nWe always message in advance and ask Wayne to prepare us a vegetarian tasting menu. We are not fully vegetarians but the quality and imagination Wayne conjures up with a vegetarian option is truly amazing. We have 2 Michelin restaurants in our home town and they don't produce a vegetarian menu close to Waynes. Sad but true. \nLook forward to our next visit.

The Codfather
Prospect View, 6 Rock Ln, LudlowHidden away on a housing estate in ludlow. All My years here and I've never even been aware of it. But family away and long drive back from the airport I decided I didn't want to cook finding somewhere open on Sunday night leaves you with little choice in ludlow and with the road closed even less accessibility. However google maps directed me here. And even just with location I was sceptical. But the lady serving was very pleasant. The food was well cooked and the chips with a red tint were crisp and full of flavour highly recommend

Aragon's
5 Church Street, LudlowWe visited Aragon’s after my husband overheard someone recommending it for breakfast so we thought we’d try it and it did not disappoint. From start to finish it was amazing, the staff are so friendly and polite and welcoming. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the gentleman who seated us, I think he was in charge but he was a very happy fellow. My husband and I had the anytime breakfast and swapping out an item for another was no problem. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. We wanted visit again the next day but had to leave to drive back to Kent. If you find yourself in Ludlow, please look up Aragon’s. Booking is recommended.

Pet Friendly Places
The Queens
113 Lower Galdeford, LudlowI phoned The Queens on a Monday morning to book a table for the Saturday. The only availability they could offer was a table for 6pm or 6.30pm.\n\n We arrived at 6pm and the bar and Bistro area was very busy. We managed to find a seat and enjoyed a cold beer before making our way to the restaurant. \n\nThe service was outstanding. The staff were attentive, professional, and friendly. We ordered garlic mushrooms starters which were plentiful and very tasty followed by steaks which were the best we've had out for a long time. They were cooked to perfection, seasoned well, and all the trimmings were of superb quality. We washed the meal down with a reasonably priced good quality white wine. \n\nThe restaurant filled up quickly and on leaving, every table was taken. \n\nI highly recommend The Queens for a nice meal out. It was just perfect. Just remember to book well in advance.

Old Street Tavern
4 Old St, LudlowA very cute small pub (NOT A MICROPUB). I've broken train journeys in Ludlow a few times, but this place was not on my radar. Good choice of four cask ales, and, if you must drink keg, an equally interesting range -I spotted Jaipur. Check out Untappd to get the gist. Cask around £5 a pint.

Proper old style pub. Lovely old fashioned interior, lovely bar staff and a delightful dog that finished my cob without having to beg. ???? I only gave it 4 stars for the food, because I prefer proper crusty cobs/baps/rolls/barms or whatever you like to call them!
Perfect for a Sunday afternoon pint and cob after wandering about the castle and church and town.

Parkway Tasca Bar
6, Parkway Off, 152 Corve St, LudlowThe paella is extremely good value when ordered for more than one - enough to satisfy hungry cyclists. We also tried some tapas which were both tasty and interesting. All the food was delicious. I'd love to go back and work my way through the tapas selection. We had a very interesting chat with the chef about how she developed her menu and expertise in Spanish cooking and her enthusiasm shone through. There was very limited wine selection when we visited - basically they had two reds and two whites but they'd run out of one white and didn't have a full bottle of the other one. However this is a very simple operation and I'd much rather eat somewhere heartfelt and a bit hand to mouth than in a bigger blander establishment

Did you like your tea?
Yes
Shall I give a 4 or a 5 ?
5, that cake was delicious.
I did notice that you didn't share.
She had raspberry tart (the last one) I had to 'make do' with a Tarte Citron, also very good but don't tell her, it works both ways. Also had a sticky toffee biscoff. All good and the staff were lovely. What more can you ask for ?
Well, maybe a raspberry tart.

Cafe V
6 New Rd, LudlowNice little cafe. Worth a visit. This is a more traditional fry up cafe. The food was nice but it is on the more expensive side of this type of cafe. The people who run the place were very friendly amd the service was good. Unfortunately as we were there a group of lads inn a van turned up parked on the double yellow lines outside amd proceeded to have a go at an elderly gentleman trying to move his car. This of course is not Amy fault of the cafe but does highlight a problem with parking. I do believe this is worth a visit.
Parking: It is located on a main road on a busy junction with yellow lines and local resident parking on the road

Crumbs
14 Tower St, LudlowIt's good.
A very wide choice of sandwich fillings. The bread could be a bit better. I don't know where they source their bread, but it could have been softer and tastier.
But ultimately good. We'd go back. It's independently run and a local place. Go support it.

The Wheatsheaf Inn
Lower Broad St, LudlowThis welcoming old pub, next to the Broad Gate in Lower Broad Street, is what everyone thinks of when thinking of a traditional pub. It is a joy that such places still exist and is popular with both locals and visitors. It is a great place to enjoy a pint or eat and suck in the atmosphere. They serve a range of draught beers, lager and draught cider etc. The food is good, value, traditional, pub food and is reasonably priced. They have specials as well as pub favourites. The steak pie is excellent. They do the best Sunday lunch serving either lamb or beef. You get a generous portion of vegetables and gravy jug. You won't leave feeling hungry! But, it is best to book as they are usually very busy. Staff are pleasant and helpful and service is efficient. They also have accommodation. A great favourite of ours.

Evergreen Fish Bar
7 Old St, LudlowWell, I will be honest here, I've eaten Chinese food at some of the best places in the UK and abroad, but this one takes some beating. We sometimes pop up to Ludlow caravan park for the weekend in our caravan. 2 weeks ago it was our friends birthday so I decided to treat him to a Chinese takeaway, Pail and Tracy, managers of the caravan site recommended Evergreen Chinese. We ordered our takeaway and it was amazing, plenty of food, very tasty and a good service. We decided to go back this week for a few nights and decided, we'll have another Evergreen takeaway and again it was amazing. We only live 20 miles away from the takeaway and decided that we will go for a ride on a Saturday collect our Chinese and head home, it is that good. Well done Evergreen and thank you.

The Corner House Cafe & Restaurant
2 Old St, LudlowExcellent fish night in late February 2025. Small but well thought out fish menu. Fairly priced with tempting starters and good choice of fish. Prawns in tempura style batter were crisp and well flavoured. My main trio of Cornish hake, bream and haddock with the famous creamy sauce with grapes was rather good. Nicely presented and fresh quality white fish. Vegetables and potatoes came in small dishes and we're quite acceptable. Quality ice cream to finish. All 5 of us enjoyed our meal. Well priced small choice of reasonable wines. Underrated restaurant. The breakfast I had a few weeks previously was also excellent.

Small brewery but great story.
Great talk and history of the brewery and all the intricacies of brewing ales, beers, lagers and stout. I thought I knew the difference but not really !!
Lovely beer sampling… Shame i was driving.
Bill was a great tour guide and resident expert. Informative, informal, funny and genuine. Great guy - a real asset to the company.
Would definitely recommend for an afternoon - but get a taxi and enjoy a few beers in the bar area / balcony & outside.
