Cobblers Tea Room

44 High St, Llanidloes

We visited Cobbler's recently and received a very warm and friendly welcome from Helen, the proprietor. The tearoom is beautifully quirky with lots of beams and seats in the inglenook with a chandelier. The loo is definitely worth a visit! Last but by no means least, the food was excellent. We each had a delicious Welsh rarebit and the individual lemon drizzle cake was scrumptious as was the Bara Brith. All homemade too. Dogs are welcomed with treats outside. Would definitely go back without hesitation.

Just googling to see if they're open...on way to a regular breakfast treat. Easy parking. Great local shop for essentials on way into the caffi...well laid out unpretentious tables and a large menu to choose from. Food usually arrives without a long wait, and we have yet to find any fault with it. Been breakfasting here for years now...delighted that they are still dishing up tasty food at a very reasonable cost. Good coffee too :-)

Firstly, what a great setting and building this restaurant is in. Unfortunately my experience was OK but not great. Food, first course was the standard garlic mushrooms, very tasty, hot and plenty of it. Main course I opted for the beef madras being a lover of hot curry's I was eager to try this outside of an Indian restaurant, oh I wish I had not, this madras was so far away from anything Indian or hot or spicy, absolutely awful , no heat to it, no flavour, terrible, I really do not think the chef knows what a madras is....but then came the desert, a stunning cheesecake, this was fantastic and almost but not quite made up for the bland main.....overall a great spot, great service, but not quite got it when it comes to the mains.

I came here on Boxing Day, fantastic atmosphere, it coincided with the David Davies Boxing Day Meet which was hosted here,Fantastic fox hunt that gladly hasn’t got the lefties harassing it. And the meet was joyous. The pack was established by the first Lord Davies (then Mr. David Davies) in 1905, and hunted by him privately at his own expense and it continues like that to this day, only with Granddaughter Lady Eldrydd financing it now (the wedding business at Plas Dinam is thankfully keeping it alive). It’s rare nowadays to see a hunt like this and wonderful local businesses like this supporting it.The food is traditional hearty fayre, the owners are real characters and that’s a plus. They don’t take any nonsense from haughty outsiders and that’s a massive plus for us. My partner and I had a great day. Great to see all the traditions. So highly recommend any time of the year, but especially for Boxing Day if you fancy a bit of excitement. Great to see owners firmly support country side pursuits despite the deluge of negative pressure and tourists who are anti it.

This is a lovely spot for lunch, located in the town centre it has a small but convenient car park ideal if you are driving. The lunch menu had a good selection and my dish recommendations would be the welsh rarebit which was on homemade bread and absolutely delicious! The wild mushrooms on toasted sourdough again were very tasty. I also noticed they had homemade cakes, sadly I was too full from lunch to get one but I will be back for another visit to try more of the menu options! Staff were friendly and welcoming nothing was too much trouble. If you are in the area and looking for a nice place to eat lunch I highly recommend, it’s a great place to stop.

The focaccia slices were amazing! A great local bakery with very high level bakes, from savory to sweet - well worth a visit if you're passing through - or even changing your route to make sure you visit!

Fantastic experience. We booked a room and had dinner and breakfast. The room was lovely, spacious and very well turned out.Dinner was superb and a real dining experience. There were some very novel and exciting dishes available, along with the more traditional, so something for everyone. Flavours were first class, as was presentation. Top marks for the chef. There was a good range of breakfast available but we opted for the full Welsh. It was cooked/seasoned to perfection and a great start to the day.Staff were great. Warm and welcoming. Exactly what you can expect from the Welsh, but seems to be typical of Llanidloes, which is a lovely town.Overall a great stay so many thanks to all.

Best Sunday roast dinner I’ve tasted in a very long time ,looked good ,Welsh Lamb and Beef was tender and tasted FANTASTIC ,with lovely traditional vegetables cooked to perfection, what I would describe as real old fashion farm house cooking at it’s best. A credit to kitchen staff and waitresses and to local farmers and suppliers.

Really great food for the price! I got the mixed grill not realising how big it was! But all the food was good and the chips were amazing! Only staying over for 1 night at the hotel opposite but would go back if I'm ever there again.

This is a great traditional pub with a lovely traditional interior and great service. We sat with our daughter and my in laws in the beer garden. I had the minted lamb burger, my wife the falafel burger and our daughter the chicken goujons. All three were delicious. My in laws also recommended their flatbread pizzas.. The pub also has well kept hand pulled ales on from the Wye Valley Brewery, and Welsh bottled Reverend James from the Cardiff based Brains Brewery. Beer garden has nice views of interesting local architecture, mainly traditional nonconformist Welsh churches.
