Swallows & Amazons restaurant and cafe at Bank Ground Farm
Bank Ground Farm East of the Lake, ConistonSuch a surprise to find such a gemstone close, so close, to Lake Coniston. And what an amazing place. No wonder Arthur Ransome of Swallows and Amazons fame, stayed here. What history there is to take on - the Batty family and their farm development over the years gone by and to come. The welcome, the food, the coffee (the best around!) and hospitality is so different and yet so memorably of a high standard. We shall take back happy memories to New Zealand.

The Bluebird Cafe
12 Lake Rd, ConistonWe hired a boat from the Coniston boat centre and after fancied a coffee and a bit of cake. We popped into the dog friendly Bluebird cafe and I'm so glad we did, the planned coffee and cake ended with us having a delicious English breakfasts , soup, chips and cakes all beautiful and even though it wasn't cheap the prices justified the lovely food. I would highly recommend the Bluebird Cafe to anyone it has a wide selection of foods to accommodate all tastes.

Sara's Indian
4 Yewdale Rd, ConistonMy family and I were staying in Coniston at a nearby campsite and decided to end the holiday with an Indian meal. There’s only one Indian Restaurant in Coniston, so we weren’t getting our hopes up, and expected it to be mediocre….
However the food was delicious and the service was excellent too. There’s a good selection of dishes on the menu, and the staff had a good understanding of food intolerances.
It’s a “bring your own beer” restaurant, which is fine as there’s a shop a few feet away and it’s obviously much cheaper too!
Their naan bread was extremely nice and the onion bhajis were enormous!

Black Bull
1 Yewdale Rd, ConistonGreat pub in the heart of Coniston, excellent range of local beers, Old Man Ale is highly recommended. Great food too. My only gripe is they don’t accept cash, which I think is a dangerous decision going forward, many people including myself prefer cash. If it wasn’t for the fact I love this pub I would have moved on.
