I even got him to try the Octopus, anyone would have thought it was a bush tucker trial but he said it was 'OK but a bit fishy' trust me that's a good review for him, he did love his beef though??

Met a friend for evening meal. Have been before but not for some time. I have to say the food still was lovely. The service was still excellent. The staff were still very good. Highly recommended the Twany Owl. Annie our waitress and the Sam the manager were outstanding in dealing with a complaining guest who was obviously drunk and trying to get out of paying.

We visited Bella Italia at Center Parcs Sherwood yesterday to celebrate our daughter’s 2nd birthday, and we had such a lovely experience thanks to Emily King. She went above and beyond by organising the staff to sing Happy Birthday for our daughter and even double-checked the pronunciation of her name beforehand, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The food was great, the service was excellent, and Emily really made the whole visit feel special. Thank you for helping make our daughter’s birthday meal so memorable

We had heard mixed reviews about this pub, but I can honestly say that my husband and I had the most amazing meal tonight! The chef definitely knew his stuff and even discouraged us from ordering the rump steak as it was not at its best, and offered us the sirloin at the same price.
The deserts were heaven and the service was excellent....will definitely visit again ?

Served by Pamala and Richard, they were friendly, attentive, efficient and took the time to provide a personalised service - 5/5\\n\\n* Atmosphere - clean, bright and relaxing. Fresh decor with a mix of bench and chair seating. Plenty of space and natural light made for a pleasant backdrop to our meal - 4/5\\n\\n* Value for money - price range for mains was as expected, between Â£8-12, and the menu, which largely catered to breakfast and dinner offered a reasonable variety of healthy European dishes (continental breakfast, Italian mains) - 3/5\\n\\nOverall Verdict... The food, value for money and general environment were nice but nothing special. However, the service we received was excellent. We had the pleasure of being looked after/served by Pamala and Richard, both of whom went above and beyond the provide a very personalised and efficient service.\\n\\nPamala was especially friendly - she seemed to really enjoy her job and it showed in the service she provided, taking the time to talk and get to know us during the course of our meal. We went to White Post last Saturday for a birthday meal and I can't knock the service that we had. The staff were friendly and what you would expect from any pub/restaurant. It was a little quite, but it certainly worked for us having an 18 month old in tow. The play area was a big bonus for our child and others that were there too. Food was pretty good as well, though I can't give it more than 4 stars as they didn't have enough meat to make up a mega mixed grill, which surprised me given it was a Saturday night.

Our meal at the Willow last night (22nd November 2025) was nothing short of excellent. We had steak pie chips and peas. Home made pies home made chips and then a home made dessert to follow. This is the best fish in the county by a mile. I called in on Friday having not been past for over a year. Nothing has changed. The fish is beautiful. The chips are outstanding. The batter is crisp and light. This place puts other chippies to shame. If you live within 30 minutes of this chippy abandon where you go and make the journey, you wont regret it. Our go-to Chinese takeaway. Food is always fresh and tasty. The service is always friendly and on schedule. Prices are also very good for the quality, especially compared to other similar restaurants in and around Newark-Balderton. Love the menu variety and veggie options, especially the mock duck. But can't beat the old, faithful, egg fried rice and chicken chow mein. Highly recommend.

When in Newark we usually grab a meal at Gregg's never had a problem, ok the shop gets busy at lunch time, it is cafe! The food we buy is always good, if they run out of hot sausage rolls or steak bakes have something else, don't stress. The staff are generally polite even when over worked. One downside the large cobweb to the left of the door I look at it as their organic fly catcher.

We were greeted & served by several members of staff & every one of them was superb & friendly.The American Diner Experience is great & kids & "big kids" will love it.The quality of the burgers we had was EXCELLENT. My rating is gauged on my expectations. I wasn't alone this time and it was a Sunday. We managed to get a small table set for 2 covers. A definite atmosphere of small cafe with, at that time, an elderly clientele. We chose this place for the daily specials and not the regular menu, opting for COTTAGE PIE and GAMMON EGG AND CHIPS. LATTE and CAPPUCCINO for drinks. We didn't get a latte or cappuccino, as proportions were all wrong and maybe it was due to lack of milk as some was rushed in. LATTE should have approx 1cm of foam and cappuccino should be thirds of coffee milk and foam. What we got was just coffee with a bit of foamy milk on top.
The meals however were perfectly home made. The COTTAGE PIE was filling and cooked well with a crusty potato top. Fresh cauliflower, brussels, carrots, red cabbage and roast potatoes with gravy were all hot on arrival. Fresh veg was well cooked, not soggy and pleasing to the eyes.
The GAMMON egg and chips also arrived hot. The GAMMON was very thick and a fair size. Obviously from a butcher not a supermarket. The chips were frozen, but good, and the 2 eggs were runny allowing the chips to be dunked which is a childish thing I enjoy.
Portions were huge and we struggled to clear our plates. There was a selection of cakes and puddings that I will come back to try because they looked really inviting.
Over all I will be back to see what other specials they have but I'll opt for a normal americano coffee. Glad I found this little gem as the staff were very friendly and obviously care for their customers. I recommend a vist based on what I found and what I heard others saying. Like me, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thank you.
