Fantastic place provides training opportunities for differently abled people. Everyone was polite, efficient, food was delicious and good value. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Old church building beautifully renovated, warm and clean.

The Globe Inn Dumfries

If you visit you will understand why this was Robert Burns' favourite howff! It is an atmospheric building full of a sense of Burns' time and there are even lines etched by him on a window pane. Anyone who is interested in poetry or the history of Scotland or good food will enjoy a visit: the cuisine, which makes heavy use of locally sourced ingredients, is outstanding.

Yamas Deli

Amazing fresh and delicious Greek food. Very helpful staff - I contacted Yamas to see if they could cater for my sister’s baby shower and they were so helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious and arrived piping hot - everyone loved it! Highly recommend!

Pizzeria Il Fiume

We really enjoyed our meals. The restaurant has a classic Italian feel. It reminds of the ones my Italian dad took us to when I was a child. Gorgeous and delicious pizzas, lovely service and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.

Abbey Cottage Tearoom

The food and service were good, and although it was busy, it was still quiet enough to hold a conversation. The rest of my party were happy with their meals and the service too.

Mrs Greens Tea Lounge

Just stumbled upon this little place on an impromptu visit to Dumfries. Had a lovely soup and delicious chia bread served on quaint vintage China. Nothing was too much trouble in this quirky little local cafe.

It is always great to introduce friends to this fabulous restaurant. Last night didn't disappoint ... tasty meal with great service. Loved my Mushroom Spelt Risotto with it's personalised touches ... delicious flavours ?

Just now popped in with kids after the fair. My first time there and first time actually sitting in a take away shop. Was pleasantly surprised. The place is very clean,the staff very polite,service superb, prices that don't bite and the pizzas were absolutely to die for! Delicious,fresh. Yummy! Will definitely be back or at least order a delivery. Now I know at least one place in Dumfries that makes delicious food. Thank you,guys!

The food here is lovely and the staff a very friendly, but they didn't get my sence of humour when I said the food wasn't good that's why I came to order more, but I wish they catered for gluten and dairy free options for my wife, salad is not a meal

N'Dulge

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at N’Dulge on 30th May, and it was absolutely fantastic. The location is excellent—easy to get to and with a lovely atmosphere that made our evening feel extra special. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we enquired and throughout. One of the highlights was how they involved our kids, letting them make their own mocktails—such a thoughtful and fun touch that made them feel part of the celebration too! The cocktails were great, so full of flavour. It really added to the experience for the adults while the kids enjoyed their own fun drinks. Everything from the service to the small details made the night memorable. Highly recommend N’Dulge for any special occasion or just a great night out!

The Boathouse Restaurant & Shop

Really friendly accommodating staff. Lovely views. Good food. We went there when busy this time and had a long wait for food but have been there before and has been really quick. Good to book before just in case they are full.

Costa Coffee

Lovely wee Costa with plenty of seating. Some nice wee corner bits up at the back. Popped in after lunchtime and busy but not overcrowded. Easily seated and ordered. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had the afternoon coffee and muffin deal. Sicilian lemon muffin was delicious, Terry's chocolate orange also (had to finish it, it'd be rude not to ?) Toilets were clean and well kept. Again, staff were great and very friendly.

Granary

Had an excellent meal and drinks, with service from mari who was fantastic, very knowledgable with allergy awareness which you don’t often see in many places. The pub could do with a bit of an update however it was still very clean and welcoming.

FANTASTIC MEAL!

Great flavours and well cooked chicken! Loved the salad they give with it too. Helps balance the flavours. Crispy chips and fluffy rice, fall off the bone chicken wings. All topped with a crispy irn bru!

I have lived in Dumfries for the last couple of years and Daksh is consistently the place that I bring my guests or colleagues for a delicious meal and good service.\n\nThe waiting staff are extremely attentive and have made some astute recommendations to me and my guests. In addition I am always impressed when they remember my name. First time in the Jolly, but certainly not the last! Lovely welcome as we came in, little tour of the place as we chose our seats, fantastic menu and absolute 10/10 scran! Must mention the lovely Joey, so friendly and cheery,total ray of sunshine. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Kebabs are delicious,plenty of salad, ordered for family and all agreed the best kebabs we’ve had, quick delivery too and driver very polite , won’t use anywhere else now .Well done !

This was honestly the best takeaway I’ve had in years. The food is really fresh and authentic, and they have a really in depth menu. The owners are so lovely too, I will definitely make this a regular stop!Note: order direct with restaurant because Deliveroo and Uber don’t have enough drivers and are unreliable. Much better to phone them or go in store.Vegetarian options: You can choose quorn for a lot of their dishes! Also so many options for vegetarians, they are so accommodating!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options, just phone them up and ask if you’re unsure.

Been there many times before to get two main meal for 11 pounds and 99 penny.It use to be two meal for 10 pounds before the pandemic.The portions are in a good size.Good and fast service.

Delicious food - especially the chicken chaat. The special for two was an absolute steal at £20 and was ready in twenty five minutes. Really pleasant staff. Highly recommend.

Our lunch was very memorable. Amazing flavours and textures, artfully designed menu and a talented team executing the experience. Fine food and drink without the portentousness. A great surprise down an ally.

Douglas Arms

Discovered this gem of a place last night as we were ambling by. Was drawn in and stayed a good while. Best pub ever. Friendliest owner, great music and just the loveliest vibe in there. Just wish we were staying longer so we could go back for more. A definite recommend for sure.

The Ship Inn

A smallish pub but the beer was very good - two real ales on hand pull and two craft beers on keg and well priced.
The lady behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in Dumfries.

The Imperial

We didn't eat, just had a few drinks. Mixed crowd from youngsters to the older generation watching horse racing. They also had the rugby on. Plenty of choice in drinks, seating of various types. Friendly and clean. Good prices.

The Barrel

Good old fashioned pub, bar staff are helpful and prices are great. We were in at the weekend and enough people to be a good atmosphere but seems like a local for older crowd. Jukebox has good selection.

Spread Eagle Inn

Excellent location if you’re going to a concert at the Hydro.Most staff were excellent and friendly. However, there’s a guy on the bar, Callum who probably shouldn’t work with people! The way he spoke to his colleagues and threw his weight around in front of a customer was ridiculous. He needs to learn professionalism and manners. All other staff were excellent.

The Lantern

What a lovely welcoming pub. The decor is lovely feels like a proper pub, but mainly more impressed by the warm and friendly service from the land lady on Christmas Eve. I reckon more pubs would be busier if they had this level of customer service. A visitor to Dumfries regularly so we will definitely be back.The world ? is a strange place at the moment and I love the caring ethos of this pub. i hope Christmas day goes well for you and you have lovely time.

KFC Dumfries - Cuckoo Bridge Retail Park

We visited 17th February 2025. Party of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. We had a really lovely time here. Ordered the the wicked family feast for lunch. A really lovely member of staff brought our bottle of coke and cups. We were waiting a little while and we were brought more drinks and apologies for the delay. We didn't mind as we had a lovely big table by the window. When our order came we had been given extra gravy and extra couple of popcorn chicken. The chicken was piping hot and delicious. We all really enjoyed our visit. Thanks again to the lovely member of staff who looked after us. Wish I had got his name ?? ? ?

I'm a fussy when it comes to my food. And it gotta be good when out and about. This place is brilliant. Well worth the visit.. twice in one week it's good. Well done to the owner ?

The Swan - Kingholm Quay

Nice food in sensible portions. A bit of a wait for order to be served, which staff were up front about, but guess that was down to the sheer number of covers. Recommended.

Cavens Arms

This place is exactly what you're looking for if you're looking for a cozy, friendly Scottish pub. The beer and liquor flow freely as does the conversation and the delicious food. They had a lot of good looking things on the menu including the chicken criffel which is a classic Scottish dish of chicken strips (just chicken cut into stripes not that god awful frozen stuff) w a creamy herby thyme sauce and veggies. They had a specials menu too and plenty of beers to choose from. For larger groups I would plan ahead as its not a terribly large place and was quite popular. Oh and they stop serving food at 8p during the weekdays and 830p weekends.

I've been here numerous times, it the place I use as for food and drinks when I'm in or around Dumfries.
Staff are amazing and the locals are hilariously friendly.

Elevenses

My little boy and I had brunch here today and it was such a lovely experience. Staff were pleasant and the cafe itself was so well laid out & family friendly.

The menu was excellent and the children’s menu offered something beyond your average sandwich/sausage and chips. I really appreciated the speedy service and the offer of my wee one having his ice cream whilst we waited for our mains (which were delicious).

We visited during a really busy spell, which was well managed and staff remained calm, pleasant and attentive. There were no long waits.

I drop into this little gem on the occasional Sunday for a very nice breakfast,that is always cooked fresh,and is always piping hot. I love the fact that it is one of the few places that serve fried bread with your fry up,it's always been a favourite of mine.The coffee is one of the nicest I've tasted in the town. Service is always very efficient,and the atmosphere is always very pleasant. This is a family run cafe,and the owners are always willing to strike up a conversation with you.I would not hesitate to recommend this very good little cafe to friends and family

The true meaning of a hidden gem!
The food is INSANELY good. Super fresh super tasteful. We got two soups that came with great bread, noodles, dumplings, a curry and some fried rice. All were exceptional indeed! The gentleman who runs things is super kind and professional. We felt really good ❤️

This was not our first visit to La Dolce Vita, Dumfries & the standards always remain high. The food was delicious, there was a super ambience too & Faye ensured that we received great service ! Would highly recommend.

The Fleshers Arms

The fifth pub to visit in Dumfries whilst on a CAMRA joint branches pub crawl. Excellent real ales with a lively atmosphere. Only stayed for one but is worth a further visit. No meals served whilst there.

Ye Olde Friars Vaults

Such a lovely wee pub!! Recently had a small birthday gathering in the back room. Liz was very helpful & accommodating from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble! Everyone had a fab night, the karaoke was a firm favourite. The staff were super friendly & the drinks were very reasonably priced! Can’t wait to head back there on our next night out!

Pine and Bamboo

We had a fabulous take away meal from here the other week whilst house sitting for friends in Dumfries. The meal was delivered hot and in the time they suggested it would be. Their chilli beef was hot and savoury, and there was so much food we had enough leftover for a 2nd meal.

Excellent pub with a first class staff and proprietor. Great homely and welcoming atmosphere. My favourite place to chill with a bevvy (or six). Never had a bad experience or bad pint here as far as I can recall.

Salutation Inn

Popped into the bar for a quick pint. As a stranger to Dumfries the barman welcomed me in and made me feel comfortable in the presence of his regulars. He was very polite and chatty. He then poured me one of the best pints of Tennents I have had in a long time, it was bliss. The music was varied but all to my taste. Overall a good little pub with good staff. I was a very satisfied customer and will definitely pop in again on my return to Dumfries. Thanks for your hospitality. Cheers

I had to grab some home made cake too.The sandwiches were packed full, absolutely delicious and the coffee too..I would highly recommend calling in, and for what you get, they should charge more. Stumbled upon this place by accident, it was everything I love about Scottish chippy’s, I just went for deep fried burger and chips but there was a superb choice on offer here. We need to keep places like this alive

Phoenix Chinese Takeaway

I order from Phoenix regularly, always friendly service from Lisa, the Peking Chicken is really good as is the Chicken Fried Rice and Garlic Chips. We usually get the same meals so haven't tried alot of the food.

Warning, don't leave food unattended outside! I left my fish and chips, literally 30 seconds to get salt and vinegar from inside, came outside and the seagulls had demolished my meal. 5 stars for the staff - I was given a replacement at no charge, thanks

Went specifically for Gluten free fish and chips, I wasn’t disappointed,they were freshly cooked and were delicious. The staff were pleasant, and didn’t have to wait too long

We ordered our takeaway in advance, for collection. It was ready when we called, and came at a reasonable price - not cheap, but not pricey either.\n\nThe food was excellent, and about as good as a takeaway gets. Certainly on my list to repeat next time I'm in the area.

I’ve been to this Morrisons cafe a few times now and the food is great you can’t beat it . I’ve tried the local Tesco and Wetherspoons and they don’t compare , I always have the Scottish breakfast.I can never finish it as it’s so filling , the staff are always friendly and the place is clean .

McDonald's

Fast service, usual standard of food. Teenagers being a bit loud and noisy. Glad I didn't have my grandchildren with me. Security eventually asked them to leave. Otherwise a good McDonald's.
