What an absolute jem of a find. Popped in for a beer a while ago. Going again on Monday to meet my cousin for a Christmas drink. Super cozy traditional Devonshire gem. We didn't have food but looks amazing. Can't wait to sit by the fire again.

Today my friend & I had amazing meals here. We didn't have enough room for dessert but really fancied the Eton Mess. We asked the friendly bar staff if it was possible to do it as a takeaway. She asked the chef & we took it home in 2 polystyrene trays. We ate it 4hrs later & it was perfect.
Everything about the Union Inn deserved 5 stars.

The food was exquisite. Delicate flavours with richness and depth. Honestly couldn't fault any of the main dishes. The service was friendly and the atmosphere great, even at 6pm on a Thursday evening. My only reservation is that, despite eating three courses, we came away hungry. The oxtail with chick peas was a classic, hearty dish, but the portions very modest and the other dishes were similarly sized. Good bread to support the mains would have helped a lot, but at £5 a portion (we had some with the starters), one felt... well, a little short- changed to be honest. A shame. But do try it for yourself - there's much to enjoy.

The new Summer Menu is brilliant, well thought out and delicious. Had the Meatballs for lunch today in the tastiest of sauces. Perfect for lunch. Have completed an interesting quiz for the June event, and thanks to George for getting through the May one in my absence. The 11th of June is the next quiz evening and the "Could Be Anything"round will test knowledge of a specific " musical" MI5 employee. Look forward to seeing you all again.

Amazing food!!! We have the pit burgers and some loaded fries and you could taste the ingredients were well sourced and cooked perfectly. Great outdoor area and kept warm with them lighting a wood fire! Didn’t go inside but looked very cosy.

Google maps not the best for finding the way in but can use satellite view to see the actual road

We stopped here yesterday for lunch before going on to our hotel. Fab food and lots of it. My husband had the cheese and red onion chutney toastie and I had had chicken Gyros wrap. Both delicious and a very good tea and latte. Would highly reccomend. Great staff too.

We came in on special expecting normal cafe fair but tbh this place far exceeded expectations. Lovely staff and atmosphere and the food.
We both ordered jacket spuds with prawns and salad.
To start the plates themselves are lovely, the spud was well cooked with a nob of real butter, a generous portion of prawns in Mary rose and a fresh large salad. A proper home made salad dressing and decent black pepper and sea salt.
All for a very reasonable price.
This place is a gem.

We visited today. The place is relaxed , peaceful and has a good vibe. Great menu too with very reasonable pricing. Smelled amazing . Unfortunately our son who has a disability had a self induced accident and cut his head (was fine soon after). The owner was so kind to him and helpful. He brought over a first aid kit. Really appreciated it. We will be back!

Stayed at Finlake, so looked for a local pub for a meal for the family to celebrate a birthday

Arrived without booking, was able to get a table outside without an issue for 9 people. Used the app to order, so the kids could play in the play area

All meals were absolutely lovely, and the service was great too

Will definitely use again next time we are in Devon

Long wait for lunch. Almost an hour! On the plus side fabulous 14th C huge Inn. Fish and chips really tasty and not greasy

Lovely location, good service, plenty of seating in the garden, dog friendly. Stopped in for lunch and a few drinks. Food was pretty good, hot baguettes were very nice and good value for money. Just moved into the area and thought to give Bovey fish bar a try and boy, I am glad I did. The chaps in there a top notch and so friendly even offered me some home made tartar sauce. Which was lovely btw. Chips very nice, fish on the smaller side but packed full of flavour and the batter was top notch! You can tell they frequently change the frying oil! Can only recommend and I'll be back for sure! Thanks chaps, really enjoyed my fish and chips ?
