I had a lovely experience at Café Rouge. The food was really good — fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour — but what truly made the visit exceptional was the service. Every member of staff was welcoming, but Gale stood out in particular. She was extremely helpful, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. Her warmth and professionalism made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Went for an amazing meal tonight,the food was outstanding,the landlady was on her own and did a brilliant job at tending the bar and restaurant.The menu was small but then you know that everything was cooked fresh and it was delicious.
Would highly recommend as it is dog friendly as well

Great experience. Manager was friendly and welcoming. We wanted to eat and at the time their delivery was 6.5 hours late so he explained they had had to suspend food service until it arrived. Lucky for us 10 mins later it arrived so food was back on. We were treated to a lovely meal that was very tasty and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

The food was very tasty and plentiful, enough to have some the next day (always tastes even better the next day). We would recommend this takeaway for a tasty curry at home.

Was not too bad first time here even after reading all the bad reviews. However, there was definitely a wait of 40mins or so after seated and order placed at around 7.15pm, as they're really busy so it is understandable, as we work in restaurant as well, we know how it will be when it's busy, but food is still OK, we ordered the slow-cooked ribs which is very fragrant, ??, but the mighty burger is not so recommended as the meat is dry and the bun is making it drier too. Freakshakes look nice but too light, not too sweet.

Had a really excellent Sunday lunch here - significantly better than pretty much any other pub Sunday lunch I can remember having. Big old portions of everything, excellent beef, vegetables cooked exactly right (or to our taste anyway). The Yorkshire puddings were beautiful, very clearly properly done, and big. Just everything you could ask. Lovely staff. It's in a beautiful village. But it's the food that was really noteworthy - nothing fancy, but done very, very well.

Food was gorgeous, plentiful and really tasty given how busy they were, and every dish that came out of the kitchen looked of an extremely high quality. The staff were kind and attentive. One star taken off because the upstairs area could do with a lick of paint and maybe a second rail on the stairs as they are quite steep.

Whilst on holiday, the Butchers Arms was recommended by the owners of our cottage. Our meals tasted superb! Made with the finest ingredients and big portions. The Chicken Liver Pate was the best I have ever tasted and was presented beautifully! The little unique details such as pickled onion rings with the steak added to the overall taste. The rural, friendly and welcoming atmosphere added to our meal. It's such a shame we are only visiting! The locals are very lucky having this on their doorstep. Compliments to the chef and all the other staff. X

There's also attached a wonderful boutique with beautiful clothing and beauty products. And a Toy shop selling, making and offering refurbishing. Add on a shop selling delicious treats, useful products and it's a mini village department store with something for everyone.

We have visited the Daffodil cafe numerous times on our trips to the lakes and scotland.
The cafe is in a beautiful setting, with other shop's in a garden square in the shadow of the local church.
Lovely atmosphere in a oldie worldly property. The ladies who serve us, I think the owners, are very welcoming friendly and lovely hosts.
We usually have a full breakfast with coffe and its superb, and very reasonably priced. If your passing, you wont be disappointed. We park the other side of the church in a small disc zone area. Always a space ...one thing to mention....mind your head when visiting the loo. ?

We really enjoyed our breakfast. Excellent value. Toast like doorsteps. All cooked fresh. Would recommend going Only one thing spoiled our visit and that was three mums and two toddlers. The mums were very noisy talking or should I say shouting to each other! One of the toddlers was banging things on the table constantly and never told to behave. I know it is very difficult with youngsters but the mums weren’t bothered about the noise, everyone in the cafe was looking at them and I do mean everyone! It rather spoilt our breakfast because we couldn’t have a conversation

We came for the tasting menu while on honeymoon and what a lovely way to celebrate!

The menu was great - a wonderful range of savoury and sweet dishes, cooked to such a high standard.

1863 were wonderful hosts, and the service was impeccable.

I may have eaten some bloody delicious food, but I also may have enjoyed the finest espresso martini I've ever had. What a delight.

My 5* is related to the plant nursery . The selection of plants and variety of cultivars is excellent . Much variety, high quality, well cared for stock . It’s a treat for sure ! \n\nThe cafe I feel is missing the mark. It has so much more potential and these days we give it a miss . I agree that prices are hiked above expectation and the offering is not aligned to match , nor the service. There was a high number of young staff who likely are temp - weekend but maybe done customer service training - exceeding expectations etc would be valuable . Folk need to learn but the management could make this a great venue with some tweaks \n\nIt’s a real shame as it really could be fantastic \nThat all said , for a plant lover it’s the place to go!! .
