Came for our Anniversary and were not disappointed. They were fully booked for the night do booking essential. It was priced as we expected with no hidden costs, the set menu was excellent value if you wanted to watch the cost. The soufle/beef were fantastic and I don’t know what they did to that carrot but it was absolutely delicious!

Went for an amazing meal tonight,the food was outstanding,the landlady was on her own and did a brilliant job at tending the bar and restaurant.The menu was small but then you know that everything was cooked fresh and it was delicious.

Though at first we drove around to find it as it is tucked away near houses.\nWe booked ahead and even on a Monday night I pleased we did as they were turning business away. That shows you how good they are. They aren’t licensed so you take your own alcohol but serve soft drinks which suited us. Everything was exceptional fresh, I don’t eat onion bhajis but had a try of hubby’s, they have got to be the best, crunchy and not doughy at all, cooked to perfection. I had Lamb Tikka which was succulent and tender pieces not one chewy piece, hubby has Chicken Thawa though had 2 chilli’s by it, he would of preferred it hotter but still it didn't take away from the taste. The quantity and quality you can not fault what so ever, he also Oder a mushroom bhaji, with the Nann too was probably too much for one, especially having popadoms to start with.\nWe couldn’t get over the prices too, but I suppose not having alcohol drinks which in most puts up the cost by a lot.\nWe hoping to return before heading home, as it definitely was a fantastic restaurant.\nHighly recommend. \nParking on road is only easy after 6 though otherwise before you only have an hour, (they don’t open till 5 so quite handy)

Really good service here, and fresh tasty food. We were a party of 7 ordering from Center Parcs Whinfell and went to pick it up. It was ready within 30 minutes including 5 pizzas, döner, chicken kebab, burgers, chips and cheesy chips. Even added extra garlic mayo and pop bottle. They triple checked the order with us on the phone and when we went to pick up as some had added extras, and some had removed salad. We will definitely order from here again if in the area. :) thank you guys!! ❤️

Was not too bad first time here even after reading all the bad reviews. However, there was definitely a wait of 40mins or so after seated and order placed at around 7.15pm, as they're really busy so it is understandable, as we work in restaurant as well, we know how it will be when it's busy, but food is still OK, we ordered the slow-cooked ribs which is very fragrant, ??, but the mighty burger is not so recommended as the meat is dry and the bun is making it drier too. Freakshakes look nice but too light, not too sweet.

Had a really excellent Sunday lunch here - significantly better than pretty much any other pub Sunday lunch I can remember having. Big old portions of everything, excellent beef, vegetables cooked exactly right (or to our taste anyway). The Yorkshire puddings were beautiful, very clearly properly done, and big. Just everything you could ask. Lovely staff. It's in a beautiful village. But it's the food that was really noteworthy - nothing fancy, but done very, very well.

Went for lunch which is small plates but Cumbrian portions! The twice baked cheese soufflé is magnificent, the triple cooked chips huge portion and delicious. Then sticky toffee pudding made by the former chef of Sharrow Bay. Delicious meal. Given that I was the only person in the service was somewhat offhand: and they add 10% which seems greedy for a bar in a pub. It’s a little pricy and this would explain why it’s empty on a midweek lunch. Nice wines and very pleasant decor.

Arrived on a busy day and were seated upstairs. Food was gorgeous, plentiful and really tasty given how busy they were, and every dish that came out of the kitchen looked of an extremely high quality. The staff were kind and attentive. One star taken off because the upstairs area could do with a lick of paint and maybe a second rail on the stairs as they are quite steep.

Three of us had the Christmas turkey dinner which was a large plateful and delicious, and one had the chicken wellington which they really enjoyed. The puddings are also not to be missed

We have visited the Daffodil cafe numerous times on our trips to the lakes and scotland.
The cafe is in a beautiful setting, with other shop's in a garden square in the shadow of the local church.
Lovely atmosphere in a oldie worldly property. The ladies who serve us, I think the owners, are very welcoming friendly and lovely hosts.
We usually have a full breakfast with coffe and its superb, and very reasonably priced. If your passing, you wont be disappointed. We park the other side of the church in a small disc zone area. Always a space ...one thing to mention....mind your head when visiting the loo. ?

We really enjoyed our breakfast. Excellent value. Toast like doorsteps. All cooked fresh. Would recommend going Only one thing spoiled our visit and that was three mums and two toddlers. The mums were very noisy talking or should I say shouting to each other! One of the toddlers was banging things on the table constantly and never told to behave. I know it is very difficult with youngsters but the mums weren’t bothered about the noise, everyone in the cafe was looking at them and I do mean everyone! It rather spoilt our breakfast because we couldn’t have a conversation

The menu was great - a wonderful range of savoury and sweet dishes, cooked to such a high standard.

1863 were wonderful hosts, and the service was impeccable.

I may have eaten some bloody delicious food, but I also may have enjoyed the finest espresso martini I've ever had. What a delight.
