Rydal Rd, AmblesideOn a recent trip to Ambleside,. Myself and 7 friends ate at Dodd's around 8pm. We did not book but had to wait for a table, around half n hour until they could accommodate us. The restaurant was busy throughout our meal. Staff were great and service was swift. Meals were outstanding and everyone was more than happy to oblige the service charge. I will recommend this restaurant and would definitely return in the future. My home smoked chicken supreme was the most tasty meal I've ever had.

Lake Rd, AmblesideI recently visited this place during the evening, and the environment felt calm and relaxing. The lighting was soft, and the seating was comfortable enough for a long conversation. The menu options were clear and fairly priced. The food quality was good, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Although there was a slight delay in serving, the staff handled it professionally. The overall experience was enjoyable and worth the visit.

Rydal Rd, AmblesideI visited on a weekend with friends. It was a rainy day and the place was very crowded. Seats and tables were full. Outdoor tables are all not properly rain proof.

The Priest Hole Restaurant
Church St, AmblesideStopped here for a lovely roast dinner after a long walk in the lakes, and was not disappointed. The roast dinner is the best I’ve ever had, and plentiful too. Staff were lovely and so welcoming, coming on a Sunday with no table booked we were worried we may not find anywhere but were welcomed and seated immediately. Will definitely return for another roast, one I will not be forgetting!

Compston Rd, AmblesideVisited here after a long hike, and I was only visiting the Lakes after my trip to Thailand was cancelled this week (war is never fun). So let's do Thailand at home. Glad I did, the food looked and tasted fantastic, the restaurant was atmospheric and the team were all brilliant.

The roast dinner was really great and a good portion of meat. The sticky toffee pudding is a really good one.
The only issue was the jug of custard is tiny for £1 and I wouldn’t bother getting it.

The Langdale Estate, Great Langdale, AmblesideWow,wow wow! We have just returned from 2 nights and absolutely had the best stay! Beautiful room,fab shower, great location and staff that couldnt do enough for us. Extra touch was a card in our room as it was a special trip. Beautiful meal for our wedding anniversary and a little treat at the end. We simply had the best time. Thankyou

2 St Mary's Ln, AmblesideBooked in advance and requested a corner table due to slight hearing difficulties. Had a brilliant table in the corner upstairs which was fab. Service was brilliant and the food was equally as good. Beware the portions are big!

North Rd, AmblesideGreat Sunday roast and lovely service. We came back to eat again but unfortunately they weren't serving food on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A proper old fashioned pub with a nice atmosphere and even our dog was welcomed and looked after.

OMG the food was amazing! Fillet steak, cooked to perfection. My king prawn curry delicious. Chef asked how I hot I wanted it.
He was a fellow Scot. Server or owner, not sure. She was lovely and welcoming.

Friendly/quick service, tables were clean, background music pleasant (jazz) and it wasn't too busy (weekday lunchtime).We loved the water dispenser by the entrance. There were small glasses available and we could help ourselves to free citrus flavoured chilled water (there were slices of orange, lemon and lime in the dispenser). It was really nice as we had just finished a walk, but hadn't taken any water with us so were pretty thirsty!

Borrans Rd, AmblesideLovely little cafe to have a bite to eat/drink while sitting outside and watching the world go by …..see photos of boats etc. drinks & food served in ‘takeaway’ cups/plates. EXPENSIVE though in the car park (see photos) . Nice walk along to nearby Borrans Park where youngsters were paddle boarding. Good gift shop nearby too.

Old Stamp House, The, Church St, AmblesideWe enjoyed a wonderful lunch at The Old Stamp House. We walked through the busy noisy streets of Ambleside under grey clouds -- and stepped into a different world: quiet, peaceful, calming. We had three attentive servers who guided unthought a special lunch. The courses included two appetizers of duck liver and a rabbit roll; small shrimp in cauliflower puree; bread and butter; local mushrooms with spelt and egg dusted with black truffle; poached trout with pickled artichoke and a trout roe sauce; loin of local deer with sausage and micro greens and an incredible side dish of venison shank encased in celeriac puree; and carmelized rum tart with blackberries. My favorites included the stewed venison shank with celeriac puree-- the venison was intensely flavored. The setting was calm. The service was excellent. A wonderful lunch !

We watched The Bride upstairs in the private cinema, which made the whole experience even more special. It was a perfect night—we couldn’t have asked for more. ?????

Grasmere Gingerbread Shop
Church Cottage, College St, Grasmere, AmblesideWe saw the shop at Hawkshead but decided to buy at Grasmere as that was our last stop. Although we were advised by the staff at Hawkshead that there is no need to queue if we bought at Hawkshead.
Bad decision.
The queue at Grasmere was long.
Next time we will get the biscuits at Hawkshead.

The Slack, AmblesideA wonderful little restaurant. Even on a Monday evening it was busy so booking ahead is probably a good idea. I had the belly pork starter and chicken Kiev for main. Both were absolutely delicious and substantial portions. Everything else on the menu looked equally good. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. I'll definitely visit again next time I'm in Ambleside.

Minstrels Gallery
Berkeley Square, Hawkshead, AmblesideA great tea-room in the heart of Hawkshead village. Visited there three times when I stayed in the village and the food and cakes were consistently excellent. It specialises in tea, offering 30 varieties, and a pot is a very reasonable £3.00. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.
The Minstrels’ Gallery is a well-preserved 15th to 17th-century building, originally known as Crown Mitre Cottage, likely serving as a pub or inn before becoming a tearoom. Its Grade II listing and central location underscore its historical and cultural significance in Hawkshead.
The business is currently up for sale so things may change in the near future. For now, it is a place well worth visiting.

Road, Ambleside, WindermereStayed with my Mum at the hotel on 28th October for two nights and the first evening we had dinner at The Windermere Restaurant. Meal was absolutely fantastic. Staff were happy and friendly, service was good and couldn’t fault the food. My Mum and I come to The Lakes a lot as we like try the nice restaurants. This meal was as good as any Michelin starred restaurant we have been to in the Lakes. Fabulous food and fabulous service. I’d recommend oh and half the price of the other restaurant we went to on our second night.
